History

In 1968, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Holland lost his life in Vietnam. Having only been there for seventeen days, Charles Ralph Holland was the first Jackson County Soldier to give his life in the Vietnam War. On April 20, 1969, the library was dedicated to Charles Ralph Holland to honor his brave and courageous actions. Captain Patterson presented at the home of Private First Class Holland's home. County Judge, J.D. Flatt, unveiled the dedication plaque. Later on, Holland's parents were given the bronze star in his honor. 

The Charles Ralph Holland Memorial Library was opened and dedicated on Sunday, April 20th of 1969. Original photos and newspaper clippings have been preserved to remember and honor the library's historical origin.
